Designing a home page with Photoshop

Our first project in New Media Design was to use photoshop to create a homepage screen for a potential website. My design style is minimalistic. I love a page with symmetry, unusual shapes, contrast, a pop of color, and strong, striking typefaces. I explored all of these attributes in the following design.

Being the scifi/fantasy nerd that I am, I really liked the spacey glitch effect and the placement of the funky shapes. The sharp contrast of the color on the page versus the white is eye catching to me as well. In the rest of my designs in this section of my portfolio, you will see this style recur, but also become more refined. Enjoy!
